French Crop with Blunt Fringe
A short, blunt fringe cut straight across the forehead.
What it is
The most direct tool for a tall forehead or a receding front hairline: the fringe is blunt and sits low, so the visible forehead is physically shorter. Works best when the sides are tight enough to keep the head from reading wide.
Who it suits
- Rectangle
A square jaw on a longer face. Height on top works against you here; width, fringe and side volume bring the proportions back.
- Oval
Slightly longer than wide, with the cheekbones as the widest point and a gently rounded jaw. The most forgiving shape — most cuts work, so the decision comes down to hair texture and how much effort you want to spend.
- Diamond
Cheekbones dominate, with a narrower forehead and a narrow chin. Width at the brow and along the jaw evens the outline out.
- Heart
A wide forehead narrowing to a smaller chin. Fringe and side weight balance the top, while beard length adds the width the lower face lacks.
